Biography
I am a Lecturer in Computer Science, based in the Centre for Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare.
My main emphasis is on the use of technology to improve the lives of elderly people and people with disabilities. In particular, my research interests are concerned with the clinical application of speech technology, spoken language processing and binaural listening.
I gained my MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Aalborg University in Denmark before moving to the UK to join the Speech and Hearing group in the Computer Science Department at the University of Sheffield.
I have worked at the University of Sheffield for 14 years as a Research Associate in the Department of Computer Science, working on numerous European and UK funded projects. Most recently I have worked on the homeService project, part of the large EPSRC programme grant 'Natural Speech Technology'.
I have published more than 40 publications and have been involved in the Faculty of Engineering's work on encouraging more women into STEM subjects.
