About the project

COBALT (Challenging Obstacles and Barriers to Assisted Living Technologies) is examining the reasons behind the slow uptake and adoption of many assisted living technologies.

COBALT works collaboratively with older people and health and social care professionals, using their expertise – as people wanting to use new technology – to understand the issues with engagement and adoption. ‘Pioneer Groups’ have been established to connect older adults with industry partners, and develop tools and techniques which bridge the gap between these groups, and allow for more intelligent design of products and services.

COBALT is supported by the Technology Strategy Board under the Assisted Living Innovation Platform (ALIP).
